How do I setup a Stripe account so I can begin to receive payments from dues, subscriptions, and the store directly to my bank account?

Setting up a Stripe account to be used with ClasroomParent payments is pretty simple and only takes about 5 minutes to complete. If you already have a Stripe account it is even easier. See below for instructions in both cases.

Setting up a new Stripe account

In order to create a new Stripe account, you will need to have on hand the information listed below:

  1. Organization Details
    1. Your business type: (choose Non_profit)
    2. EIN (Tax ID): This should be the same as the EIN associated with the bank account that will receive the funds
    3. Physical Address (most likely the school, unless your organization receive mail to a PO box or similar. It should not be an officers home or work address
    4. Your website: Use your CP address
  2. Organization Representative Information
    1. The name of the current Parent Organization president or treasurer (if the funds are going to the parent organization bank account), or an officer of the school, if the funds are going to a school controlled account
    2. The SSN of the person above (this is to help Stripe verify both you and the organization)
  3. Credit card details (what displays on peoples credit cards when they make a purchase)
    1. Your business name (most likely the name on the bank account)
    2. Phone number
  4. Bank Details (for where the funds will be deposited)
    1. Routing number
    2. Account number

Once you have collected this information, do the following:

  1. Log in as Site Admin.
  2. Go to Admin/Settings and scroll to the Stripe Configuration area at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click the “Create or Link Stripe Account” button (this will take to you the Stripe New Account form)
  4. Complete the form with the information listed above
  5. Click the “Authorize access to the account” button

You will be redirected back to the settings form, and you will see that the “Create or Link Stripe Account” button has been replaced with information from your new Stripe account.

All future payments, other than the handling/convenience fee, will be directed to your bank account associated with the Stripe account you created in the previous steps.

Using an existing Stripe account

Since you already have an existing Stripe account, you will not need any additional information (other than the login information for your Stripe account) to link it to CP. Do the following:

  1. Log in as Site Admin.
  2. Go to Admin/Settings and scroll to the Stripe Configuration area at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click the “Create or Link Stripe Account” button (this will take to you the Stripe New Account form)
  4. Complete the form with the information listed above
  5. Click the “Authorize access to the account” button
  6. When the Stripe form displays, click the Login link (it is rather small) at the top right.
  7. Grant ClassroomParent authorization to link your account
  8. You will be returned to the CP settings page. See that the “Create or Link Stripe Account” button has been replaced with information from your new Stripe account
